NotebookLM is moving from notebooklm.google.com to notebook.google.com. Extension stopped working, or disabled after the update? See the fix
NotebookLM is moving to a new domain — and the update needs one click from you
Google is gradually moving accounts from notebooklm.google.com to notebook.google.com.
Extension versions before 1.9.4 won't load on the new domain.
v1.9.4 is out: Firefox is live now; Chrome is in review with Google, usually a few days.
Heads up: v1.9.4 has to request access to notebook.google.com, and browsers disable an
extension until you approve a new permission — so the icon disappears and it looks uninstalled.
It isn't. Open chrome://extensions (or about:addons), find NotebookLM Tools, click Enable →
Allow, then reload your NotebookLM tab.

[1.9.1] - 2026-07-06
Bug fixes: studio item counts stay up to date, and mind map exports are no longer empty
Changelog: [1.8.7] -> [1.9.0]
Short Video Overviews — generate NotebookLM’s new 60-second vertical shorts right from the Generate panel. Pick Video → Short alongside Explainer / Brief / Cinematic.
Each short covers a single concept in a portrait, mobile-friendly clip
“Suggest ideas” fetches AI-generated concept suggestions from your sources — tap one to set it as the focus for your short
Shorts land in your Studio and play in the built-in viewer like any other video
[1.8.9] - 2026-07-01A new bar on each notebook page — see what’s inside and generate content, find duplicate sources, or open it, all in one tap.
Set your favorite languages in a tap and switch between them with one click.
[1.8.8] - 2026-06-23Your podcasts, organized — search, sort, delete, and mark them listened, all in one place.
Open AI mind maps right inside the extension.
[1.8.7] - 2026-06-11Fixed YouTube playlist import
[1.8.6] - 2026-06-01
Labels — organize your sources with NotebookLM's built-in labels, right from the extension. Unlike folders and tags (which stay private to this device), labels sync with your notebook, so anyone you share it with sees them too.
- Add several labels to any source, and filter your sources by one or more of them
- Color-coded label chips make groups easy to spot at a glance
- Let AI label your sources for you — tag everything, fill in just the unlabeled ones, or regenerate from scratch
- A dedicated Labels view to rename and reorganize your labels
- Built-in "Folders vs Labels" explainer so it's always clear what syncs and what stays on your device
[1.8.5] - 2026-05-29
Refresh out-of-date sources across many notebooks at once. Pick notebooks from your library and the extension checks every source for changes, then re-syncs the stale ones in a single run.
- See how many sources need updating in each notebook before you start
- Live progress as it checks and refreshes, with a heads-up when there's a lot to get through
- A clear summary at the end: how many were updated, still processing, or failed
Changelog: [1.8.2] -> [1.8.4]
