• A new look that matches Gemini Notebook — the notebook toolbar, the home page bar, menus, dialogs, the “/” prompt list and the language switcher now follow Google’s new design

• Compact mode — click the arrow at the right end of the notebook toolbar or the home page bar to fold it into one slim line. Click it again to bring everything back

  • On the home page, your tags or collections fold into one pill that opens the full list

• Formulas look like formulas — notes, reports, quizzes, flashcards and data tables now show maths the way NotebookLM does, instead of the raw code it is written in

• Print / PDF — a new button on notes, reports, quizzes, flashcards, data tables and sources opens a clean printable page and hands it to Chrome, where you can save it as a PDF. A quiz prints as a question sheet with the answers after it, flashcards as a two-column sheet

• Sources read like they do in NotebookLM — the source viewer opens on Rendered, with headings, lists, tables and formulas in place. Raw still shows the plain text

• Flashcards go straight into Anki — the Anki CSV button writes a file Anki imports in one step, with the deck, the fields and the formulas already set

• Quizzes download as a spreadsheet — one row per question, with the options, the correct answer, the explanation and the hint

• Fixed: a quiz always listed the correct answer first. The options are now mixed, the way NotebookLM mixes them

• Fixed: data tables showed only their first row

• Fixed: exported sources lost their tables and code blocks

• Fixed: a Google Slides source showed blank slides when a second Google account was signed in

• Fixed: Bulk rename could mangle replacement text containing symbols

• Spreadsheets saved by the extension now open in Excel with accented text intact

• Fixed: with more than one Google account signed in, Export Studio, the Studio viewer and podcasts now work for every account, not just the first one (no more 403 errors)

• Fixed: exported ZIPs keep each item's original date and are numbered in Studio order (01-…, 02-…), so the unpacked folder sorts the same way NotebookLM shows it

• Fixed: backups and exports include the time in the filename (…2026-09-13_14-05), so a second one on the same day no longer clashes with the first

• AI usage meter — Gemini Notebook (the new name for NotebookLM) now limits how much AI you can use, depending on your Google plan. A small chip next to the NLMTools.com badge shows how much you've used and when it resets; click it for the full picture. The Generate panel shows how much a batch will use and warns when it won't fit

  • Show the usage percent on the toolbar icon under Settings → General → Extension badge. Each chip can be turned off under Settings → Account → Page Display

  • It's your Google plan's limit, reported by Gemini Notebook — not a limit set by the extension

• Generate now or later — choose in the Generate panel or under Settings → General → Studio timing. Anything over your limit is scheduled to run on its own after the limit resets, so nothing is lost. The button says what will happen, e.g. "Generate 1 now · 2 later"

• Studio tab — shows the same Scheduled and Failed badges as Gemini Notebook, and refreshes by itself when a scheduled item runs

• Public and shared notebooks — open any notebook you have a link to, even one that isn't in your library. Export its sources, copy them into your own notebooks, and browse its Studio items. Notebooks you can only view stay read-only

  • The Notebooks page lists the public notebooks you've viewed so you can find them again

  • Removing one from that list asks first if it's tagged or in a collection

• More tools right on the NotebookLM page — the toolbar now reads Export sources · Export Studio · Copy to notebook · More · Open

  • Export sources and Copy to notebook run on the page, no need to leave the tab. Export lets you pick which sources to include

  • Merge sources and Bulk rename are under More

  • Export Studio opens the extension's Studio tab, where every Studio type (audio, video, reports, quizzes…) can be downloaded

  • Generate and Find duplicates moved under More, which shows the duplicate count after a scan. Anything that leaves the page carries an arrow

  • When a notebook can't be loaded, the toolbar says why and offers Retry

• Multiple accounts — a NotebookLM tab now acts as the account that tab is signed in as, even if the extension's active account is different. The inline Copy, Merge and Rename panels show which account they run as

• Output language per account — the language switcher and Studio generation use the language of the account you're working as, and pick up changes made in NotebookLM's own settings

• After adding sources

  • The success message links to the notebook: Open in NotebookLM or Open in NotebookLM Tools. If that notebook's tab is already open, you're taken there instead of opening another copy

  • The message stays until you choose "Add another page" or "Add more links"

  • From the right-click menu, the review tab takes you to the notebook once the add finishes, instead of closing and opening new tabs. If some links failed, it stays so you can see which ones

  • From the extension's notebook page, new sources appear right away and no extra tabs open

• Failed sources — sources NotebookLM couldn't read now show a red Failed badge in the sources list, and the source count says how many failed. Adding one shows a clear warning. Sources still being processed show a Processing badge

• Fixed: importing a list of links into a new notebook could create several notebooks instead of one. If none of the links could be added, you're now told

• Navigation — Notebooks and Podcast switch pages in place when you're already in a full tab, and open one tab from the popup or sidepanel instead of a new one on every click

• More reliable on the NotebookLM page — the extension's UI keeps showing up when NotebookLM changes its layout, with a floating "NLM Tools" button as a backup. Settings → General shows whether everything is attached

• Public notebooks you tag or add to a collection now show up on the Tags and Collections pages instead of being flagged as missing

• Free users: the NLMTools.com badge now shows an Unlicensed tag, and after using an inline tool a small upgrade reminder may appear on the page. It's labelled as from NotebookLM Tools, not Google, and shows at most once a day

• Tags and collections in list view — chips now appear on the NotebookLM home page in list view too, not just on the grid cards. List rows show up to three chips plus a "+N" pill so rows keep their height

• The Tags / Collections bar no longer disappears — with no tags yet it shows "No tags yet" and a Create tag button instead of hiding, which used to leave you with no way to switch to Collections. An empty Collections view works the same way

• What's the difference? — a new ⓘ button on the bar explains Tags (this extension's feature, private to this browser) vs Collections (NotebookLM's feature, synced to your Google account), with links to manage each. It opens by itself the first time you switch between them; dismiss it once and it stays dismissed everywhere

• The NLMTools.com badge now appears on the home page bar too, with its own toggle under Settings → Account → Home page. It follows your notebook page setting until you change it. Hiding it is a Pro feature

• The first-time choice between Tags and Collections is now made on every page, including the NotebookLM home page. Before, if you never opened the extension's Notebooks page you stayed on Tags for good. Existing tag users stay on Tags; new installs start on Collections

• New: Custom Creations — preview and download NotebookLM's new Custom Creations right from the extension

  • Preview images, PDF, and text files in the built-in viewer

  • Copy the contents, download the file, or open it in a new tab

• Notebook stats now count Custom Creations, so your Studio totals always add up

• Studio item counts refresh as soon as you return to the tab

• Export your notebook overview to CSV with a column for every Studio type — audio, video, quizzes, flashcards, and more

NotebookLM is moving to a new domain — and the update needs one click from you

Google is gradually moving accounts from notebooklm.google.com to notebook.google.com.

Extension versions before 1.9.4 won't load on the new domain.

v1.9.4 is out: Firefox is live now; Chrome is in review with Google, usually a few days.

Heads up: v1.9.4 has to request access to notebook.google.com, and browsers disable an

extension until you approve a new permission — so the icon disappears and it looks uninstalled.

It isn't. Open chrome://extensions (or about:addons), find NotebookLM Tools, click Enable →

Allow, then reload your NotebookLM tab.
